History

In Reykjahlíð, Sigurður Einarsson's family, which owned 33% of the land and maintained, before modern tourist services, the reception and service of tourists and other pedestrians in Reykjahlíð. They built a new house after World War II and relocated in the summer of 1947. Immediately, it served as a hotel and has done so ever since. Sigurður's daughters, Guðrún and Svava, governed the hotel from the beginning and until the eighties. Then Ingibjörg Þorleifsdóttir, Finnur Baldursson's wife, bought the house. She added one floor to it and had private bathrooms built en-suite. In 2004, Ingibjörg sold the hotel to Lake View ehf, owned by Pétur Gíslason. While he governed the hotel, its restaurant was revised and greatly improved. Pétur then sold the hotel to its current owners in March 2012.
